The challenge
Property search in Iceland was overdue for a rethink
The Icelandic property market lacked a dedicated search experience. Listings were scattered, filters were blunt, and the overall user experience reflected tools built for brokers rather than buyers.
Fasteignaleitin set out to change that — and Studio Kormax was brought in to design it from the ground up. A purpose-built platform designed entirely around how people actually search for homes, with the goal of making the process simpler and more efficient than anything that existed in the market.

The approach
Designed around the buyer, not the listing
The design started with a clear principle: property search should feel as intuitive as any modern consumer app. Studio Kormax rethought the filter architecture, the map experience, and how individual listings were presented — prioritising the information buyers actually need at each stage of their decision.
Beyond the core search product, the platform also needed to market new property developments — a separate but complementary challenge that called for editorial-style presentation and a visual language that could elevate new builds above the noise of a standard listing feed.

The outcome
A new standard for property search in Iceland
Fasteignaleitin launched as the first dedicated property search engine for the Icelandic market — a platform built with the kind of care for user experience that had been missing from the category.
The platform serves both buyers searching for homes and developers marketing new builds, establishing a dual-sided model that makes it useful to both sides of the market.
